AI Tool Policy

The International Journal of International Journal of Sharia and Law and Law prohibits the use of generative AI or AI-tools for sentence generation/image generation/image modification of any kind.

Author use of AI-tools is only permitted in exceptional circumstances to gain insights from data and as part of the research process, not to generate sentences, tables, and figures. AI-tools must not be authors or co-authors, or cited as authors. If the author uses AI-tools, please state for what purpose and name the AI-tools used. The following are common uses of AI tools to assist authors:

  1. Checking grammar usage in the manuscript (Grammarly, Hemingway App, Linguix, etc);
  2. Improving coherence and cohesiveness to get better readability and comprehension for readers (Web-based AI tools, e.g. ChatGPT, Prose.ai, QuillBot AI, etc).

Authors should name the AI tool used and state that they have double-checked the accuracy and correctness of the data and language used and have consulted an English language expert for validation and verification (please provide the name of the expert or institution). The checking process should be done manually as AI generally generates sentences that sound overconfident, systematic, and may change the meaning to be incorrect, incomplete, or biased.

*Example statement: "The grammatical structure of this article was improved by using ChatGPT and the authors have double-checked the accuracy and correctness of the resulting sentences with the topic and data of this study. The data and language usage in this article have been validated and verified by English language experts and no AI-generated sentences are included in this article".

Reviewers are strictly prohibited from using AI-Tools for review as the information provided by AI-tools may not fit the context of the article. Meanwhile, the reviewed document is confidential and may violate the author's proprietary rights. If the data or information contains personal identity, it may violate data privacy rights.

Note:

Editors should not upload manuscripts to AI-tools, as manuscripts submitted by authors are confidential. This may violate the author's property rights and data privacy. Editors should also not use AI-tools in the article evaluation or retrieval process.
