Journal Scope

Aims and Scope:

The International Journal of Syariah and Law (IJSL) is a double-blind peer reviewed and open-access journal, focusing on publishing original and recent research manuscripts pertaining sharia and law.

The Journal welcomes research manuscripts in Islamic International Law / International Law, Islamic Family Law / Family Law, Islamic Criminal Law / Criminal Law, Islamic Politics/ Politics, Islamic Jurisprudence / Jurisprudence, Islamic Law and Gender Issue, and Contemporary Islamic Issues.

Types of manuscript

A research article is an original full-length research paper which should not exceed t.000 words (including table, figures and reference). Research article should be prepared according to the following order: title, authors name and affiliations, email, abstract, keywords, introduction, method, results and discussion, acknowledgement, conclusion, and references. The authors are fully responsible for accuracy of the content. Any correspondence regarding the manuscript will be addressed to the correspondent author who is clearly stated including his/her email address, telephone and fax number (including area code), and the complete mailing address. The correspondent author will handle correspondence with editor during reviewing process.

Preparation of the manuscript

  1. The manuscript should be written in a good English language. It must be type written on A4 paper by using Microsoft Word processor with writing in Century 11pt and single-spaced.
  2. All table and graphics should be prepared in separate pages.
  3. If the manuscript has been presented in scientific meeting, please mention in the footnote the detail about the meeting (name of conference, date, place).
  4. Guideline for the manuscript content Title, Author(s) name, Affiliation.
  5. The title of the article should be brief and informative (max.15 words).
  6. The title is written all in in first capital letters.
  7. Corresponding author should be marked with asterisk symbol.
  8. The institution where authors are affiliated and country.

Abstract

  1. Abstract written in one paragraph in English, abstract is not more than 250 words, single-spaced, in 11pt Century.
  2. The abstract should state briefly background, objective, method, findings/results, and the major conclusion.

Keywords

The keywords consists of no more than 5 important words representing the content of the article and can be used as internet searching words and arranged in alphabetical order.

Introductin

The introductory section describes:

  1. General academic or background anxiety.
  2. Previous literature review (state of the art) as a basis for scientific novelty statements of the article to justify the novelty (there must be references to a journals published in the last 10 years.
  3. Gap analysis, is a statement of the gap or novelty statement or the unique difference of this research compared to previous studies or in terms of the importance of the research or comparison of uniqueness with previous research.
  4. Purpose of research.
  5. The introduction is written in 11pt Century and single-spaced.

Method

This method is written in descriptive and should provide a statement regarding the methodology of the research, include the type of research, research approach, a source of data and analysis method. The author should explain the mechanism to analyze the sharia issues. This method as much as possible to give an idea to the reader through the method used. The method is written in 11pt Century and single-spaced.

Results and Discussion

The result is a description of the data obtained which is required from the research question. The results must answer the problems that have been raised in the research question. Research results must be clear and concise. Results should summarize scientific findings rather than simply convey detailed data.

The discussion is the main part of the article that discusses and analyzes the results of the research using the main theory and other supporting theories, to find novelty from other studies. The discussion also contains theories that assist researchers in analyzing data to make a brief summary or synopsis of the data and relationships and to suggest trying new things or even giving birth to new theories. There are at least three functions of theory that have been agreed upon by scientists, namely: (a) describing, (b) explaining, and (c) predicting.

The discussion also contains sub-chapters as research results

This chapter contains research findings and discussion (can be described in sub-chapters). Write down the findings obtained from the results of research that have been carried out, and they must be supported by adequate data. Research results and findings must be able to answer questions/problems and be in accordance with the research objectives in the introduction.

Conclusion

Conclusion should be written in paragraphs, not numeric or bulleted. Conclusion is drawn based on the results, discussion, and the objective of the research.

Acknowledgement

This is used to appreciate the efforts of associate, who are not registered as co-authors, for their assistance and fund for your research/publication. Provide acknowledgements accordingly. List here those individuals or institutions who gives help, assistance during the research (e.g., providing grants, laboratory facility, writing assistance or proof reading the article, etc.). In case of the grants, please provide the number and year of the grant received.

Conflict of Interest

This section is a statement from the author that this article has a conflict of interest or not.

References

  1. References are arranged in alphabetical.
  2. Title of references are only written in capital letter for the initial letter of the first word.
  3. Year, volume and pages should be completely written.
  4. Minimum 80% of the cited references should be from the refereed journal articles published within the last 10 years. In addition, three of them should be published within the last 3 years, as minimum requirement.
  5. DOI (Digital Object Identifier) number should be mentioned, if applicable.
  6. The name of journal/bulletin is written using standard abbreviation according to APA (American Psychological Association).

Proofs

Galey proof will be sent by email to correspondence author. The corrected proof should be returned within two working days to ensure timely publication of the manuscript.
